The ad industry's favorite time of year just presented itself to us; the ADDY Awards. Ahhhh... the spectacular black-tie event. The feather-in-the-cap awards recognition. The building of rapport among industry colleagues and within your own organization can be incredible.
The all-coveted Gold ADDY is what everyone is hoping for. And many of them at that! Usually we'd want to tell you how many Golds we won, but this year... we'll top all that with just one Silver.
Our very own Marsha Ramee, Media Director Extraordinaire, was the recipient of the highest honor given for a lifetime of achievement. The AAF Silver Medal is awarded to only one industry professional each year and we agree. She deserved it!
We're extremely proud of Marsha and can't be happier to be so lucky to have had her on staff for more than 30 years. To learn a little more about what she's accomplished by winning this award, visit this page on the national AAF website!
Way to go Marsha!!! We love you!
In case you weren't able to attend the 2008 ADDY Awards Gala, we've provided the comments (below) that Randy Kemp, OKC Ad Club Board Member and emcee for the night, made as he presented Marsha with the AAF Silver Medal award.
The American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award Program was established in 1959 to recognize men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.
The recipient must have achieved success in one of the following areas of work: advertising agency, advertiser, media or advertising service.
The recipient must have shown a consistent, high degree of original thinking in their field.
The recipient must have worked to increase the stature and raise the standards of the advertising profession.
And the recipient should be someone who has been active in civic, religious, or other groups dedicated to human or social welfare.
I’m honored tonight to have the opportunity to present to you the American Advertising Federation Silver Medal Award recipient for the year 2007.
Following graduation from Oklahoma City University with a degree in advertising in 1975, Marsha Ramee joined Larry Smith Advertising Agency and soon became a media buyer.
As the agency grew and changed its name to Smith & Associates, she was promoted to Sr. Vice-President and Media Director, the position she still holds today at the agency, now doing business as Traction Marketing Group.
For the past 32 years Marsha has represented the agency and the agency’s clients with the highest degree of excellence, responsibility and character. She has earned the respect of her co-workers and the media sales representatives who have had the opportunity to work with her.
As a long-time member of the Oklahoma City Advertising Club, she has served on numerous committees, served as a committee chairman, participated in Career Day activities, and served as a director. She was the 1997 Ad Club Member of the Year.
Marsha is a past-president of American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT), and in 1989 received the AWRT Star Award for “Best Media Planner/Buyer”.
She served many years on the local board of the Camp Fire organization and in 1995 was honored with the Camp Fire President’s Award for her continued contributions to that non-profit organization.
Marsha has many times represented her profession as a speaker and panel member at Oklahoma colleges and universities and at advertising and marketing business meetings.
She and her husband, Robert, have always been active church members and enjoy volunteering to help various charities and civic and business organizations with events and activities.
Their daughter, Jennifer, is an elementary school teacher.
Would you please join me in recognizing the Oklahoma City Advertising Club’s 41st American Advertising Federation Silver Medal Award recipient -- Marsha Ramee.
Presenting the award to Marsha tonight is Traction Marketing Group President, Tyler Smith.
Congratulations Marsha!
