Traction wins an OMNi

2010 OMNi AwardOn Thursday, January 14th, Traction was one of 16 vendors, agencies and clients recognized at Oklahoma Media Network's inaugural OMNi Awards.

Unlike most advertising awards, creativity was not the attribute for deliberation at this awards show. Held at the Skirvin Hotel in the historic Venetian Room on the 14th floor, the inaugural OMNi Awards were created to honor Oklahoma City marketers whose efforts provided real, quantifiable results for their clients.

Traction's submission to the OMNi Awards was the sole social media-based effort. An effort we recently spoke about on this very blog - disgruntled Jingle fan defames BC Clark with iTunes Review, pledges allegiance to competing jeweler; we take action through Twitter and Facebook; disgruntled fan becomes gruntled, purchases wife's Christmas gift at BC Clark - directly resulted in sales and positive feedback from Jingle fans.

Not only did Traction Creativist Tanner Tate kick off the show in style by accepting our award, Traction VP/Media Buyer Marsha Remée presented it and the following three.

And to top it all off, each award winner received a $5,000 scholarship to Oklahoma City University's Meinders School of Business to be used however the recipient so chooses.

So what does it take to win an OMNi Award? Outside of a successful campaign and the numbers to back it up, it takes a well written entry like the one below.

It was a great evening, a great awards show, and we couldn't be happier to accept the first-ever OMNi Award.

If you couldn't be there, take a look at the following pics as documented by seasoned iPhone photographer Tanner Tate.
