Situation: You get tons of email. Maybe you can delete some, and forward others on for action by fellow employees (delegation), there's going to be some you need to take action on, but finally you've got plenty you need to respond to. They come from clients, vendors, employees, bosses, friends, family members, etc.
Problem: You write too much when you respond. You feel you owe people your time and effort writing a lengthy response detailing, well, every little detail. Responding in this formal fashion is going to bog you down and it's only going to get worse.
Solution: Sentec.es - A disciplined way to deal with email. Add the url http://five.sentenc.es to your signature and a little line stating that your email policy in disclosed within. People will get the ideal. And if this one doesn't save you enough time, try http://four.sentenc.es/ http://three.sentenc.es/ & http://two.sentenc.es/.
Disclaimer: You won't find anyone at Traction using this technique, but we sure found it funny and interesting and had to put it out there.
